Create A Dynamic Business Culture
John Policastro - the owner and founder of Personal Touch Experience - attributes his thirty-year success in the hospitality industry to his passion for people.
Mamma Mia's opening in March of 1988 marked the beginning of John's entrepreneurial journey. Unlike other local restaurants, John's small dine-in pizzeria in Hackensack made each guest feel as if they were dining with family by creating an environment filled with love. On any given weekend, John could be found bouncing table to table teaching children how to make pizzas, conversing with guests, and celebrating all of life's blessings with his family at the corner table. John and his team’s vivacious spirit, paired with Mamma Mia’s dynamic cuisine was the perfect recipe to create a beloved local stalwart.
As a family-oriented man, John chose to create a work environment that mirrored his closely held familial values - specifically respect, loyalty, and appreciation. With this mindset, John prioritized heart over skill when selecting employees. In time, he established a "dream team" headed by Chef Jorge and manager Edgar (both of whom are still leaders at Personal Touch Experience and have worked to transform the company from a small pizzeria to a premier catering company). When asked, “What makes your company unique”, John often responds by saying, “We know that one bad apple spoils the bunch so, we only hire nice people." This motto has deeply impacted Personal Touch Experience's culture, leading employees to genuinely enjoy coming to work and spending time with their colleagues. "Our team is truly a family".
The Legacy Continues
Growing up, John's two daughters - Ashley and Kaitlyn- spent most of their summers running around the pizzeria, placing customers on hold, and bringing a fun loving presence to the building. Upon graduating from college in 2011, Ashley joined Personal Touch Experience full time as an event specialist. Her keen eye for design has since elevated Personal Touch to a full-service event company. In hopes of continuing the family legacy, Nick - Ashley's husband - has recently joined the family business as Director of Operations. John's ultimate goal is to leave the company to his pride and joy -his grandson, Brody - as he is designated the "Future CEO".
Our people have long-been the lifeblood of our company, and accordingly Personal Touch prides itself on creating an experience that is profoundly thoughtful and exceptionally delicious. In short, we love what we do, and genuinely love our guests. Our uncompromising passion enables us to remain true to our most closely-held ideals: innovation, impeccability, and a level of hospitality that only love could facilitate.
Our team looks forward to meeting you and making you feel like a guest at your next party!
